In which we don't complain they were better in the 1980s, we are simply grateful they still exist. Although we kind of miss the old credit card crunching machines.
Reading this makes me look forward to your new book even more. I love your writing. I think you aim high for book launch #5. A raised platform with arm chairs. Surely you will have earnt it from writing 5 books. (Soz, it’s probs too soon to mention writing another book). (And yes I have teenagers so try and use words like soz and probs so they don’t think I am completely out of it but they will never see this so not sure why I am using them here).
A minor correction - the launch was most definitely at Taronga, but was not next to the rhinos, because the officious zookeepers thought the rhinos were somehow not up to it. Instead it was next to the hippos. Which was confusing to me even at the time. I remember thinking, why on earth would the zookeepers think a hippo was more emotionally/environmentally/temperamentally suited than a rhino to proximity to a book launch - about a rhino? (I also remember my mother explaining to me, with disdain she reserved for a very small fraction of the population, "there's no sense in arguing - they haven't read the book.") SBD
I love your writing and loved the book launch intel. Wish I could be there with you and NYTBSA but will send you fond thoughts from South Africa, where I anxiously await a version I can buy.
I was at the facebook book launch!! I was sleep deprived with a young baby and the live event brought me much needed joy and felt like a catch up with friends. Can’t wait for the new book! Think I’ll need a reading escape to survive the school holidays 😅
I loved your trip down book launch memory lane. God, you make me laugh! I'm devastated that I won't be here to celebrate with you and NYTBSA Sally and the fabulous Kerri Sackville. Congrats! Enjoy it. I hope you find a canape or two! (And of course, I can't wait to read it!) xx

This is hilarious and I can’t wait to see you, Sally and your dad in action on the 2nd in Newtown.
